What to specify
Choosing MS, GP or GI pipe for a building or site
MS black pipe is uncoated mild steel, so it needs paint or a coating for outdoor exposure. GBTL makes it from 12 to 300 mm OD in 0.6 to 8.0 mm wall. GP pipe is formed from pre-galvanized strip, from 12 to 165 mm OD in 0.6 to 2.3 mm wall. Outdoors, GP pipe needs its cut ends and weld seam protected. GI pipe is hot dip galvanized after forming, so zinc covers the inside and outside. GI suits pipe that carries water or stays exposed to weather.
Hollow sections and purlins for sheds, roofs, trusses and frames
SHS and RHS hollow sections form trusses, frames and posts. C and Z purlins carry roof sheeting on sheds and factory buildings. Featured sizes include SHS 75x75 mm and RHS 60x120 mm, both in 3.0 or 4.0 mm wall. C purlin 100x50x20 mm and Z purlin 150x65x20 mm come in 2.0 or 2.5 mm wall. Standard sizes start at 2 MT. A custom size needs a full coil run, so its minimum is 20 MT. Hot dip galvanizing to ISO 1461 is available on request.
Large diameter piling and structural pipe
As the only SSAW spiral pipe mill in Bangladesh, GBTL makes spiral pipe from 273 to 3600 mm OD. Spiral walls run from 3.0 to 25.0 mm. LSAW pipe covers 300 to 2500 mm OD in 3.0 to 17.0 mm wall. Both are made to project specification for foundation piling and structural work. GBTL spiral and LSAW pipe went into foundation piling on the Padma Multipurpose Bridge. Dhaka Metro Rail also used GBTL large diameter structural and piling pipe.
Props and scaffolding for slab support and site access
Adjustable steel props hold formwork and slabs in place while the concrete cures. Scaffolding gives crews access to walls, facades and upper floors. Both are made to order for building contractors in Bangladesh. Share the floor height, slab area or scaffold layout with your enquiry. For purlins in 2.0 or 2.5 mm wall, the ISO 1461 minimum mean coating is 55 micron. For a 4.0 mm wall hollow section, the ISO 1461 minimum mean coating is 70 micron.
